Overview
Georgia is one of the fifty states that make up the United States of America. Its capital and most populous city is Atlanta. It is located in the southern region of the country, South Atlantic Division, bordered to the north by Tennessee and North Carolina, to the east by the Savannah River, which separates it from South Carolina, to the south by Florida and to the west by Alabama (the southern half of this boundary is formed by the Chattahoochee River). With 9,687,653 inhabitants in 2010, it is the ninth most populous state, behind California, Texas, New York, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan.
